President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Janet Nesheivat, a Fox News journalist and physician from New York and New Jersey, as his nominee to be the surgeon general in his second administration.
“I am proud to announce that Dr. Janette Nesheivat will be the People’s Doctor as the Chief Medical Officer of the United States. Dr. Nesheivat is a two-time board-certified medical doctor with unwavering dedication to the cause of saving and treating thousands of American lives,” says Trump’s message.
“Dr. Nesheivat will play a key role in making America healthy again!” Trump added.
According to information on her website, Nesheivat is a graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She led medical aid missions in Haiti, Ukraine, and Africa.
According to Fox News, Nesheivat hosted an educational medical television show called “Family Health Today” as well as “Health Minute with Dr. Janette” on KNWA-TV, the MIA affiliate in Northwest Arkansas.

She currently serves as the Medical Director at CityMD, a chain of urgent care centers in New York and New Jersey.
Her book “Beyond the Stethoscope: Miracles in Medicine” recounts stories of miraculous recovery and work in emergency rooms and international medical missions. The publisher’s website describes the book as “highlighting the transformative power of prayer and an unwavering commitment to healing and service.”
Nesheivat sells the book on her website, which also advertises the dietary supplements she developed.
Janet Nesheivat is expected to serve in the new role alongside Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Donald Trump’s preferred health secretary and a well-known anti-vaccination candidate. A severe overhaul of the country’s healthcare system is something Kennedy has already declared.
