In 2024, Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India again. Modi has not visited any foreign country for the past two months due to the election. He chose Italy as the first foreign trip of the third round. On June 14, Modi responded to Meloni’s letter requesting him to attend the ‘outreach’ program of the G7 countries.
In diplomacy, the personal chemistry of leaders has always played a role in building relationships between countries. At the end of last year, Narendra Modi responded to a selfie taken by Meloni with him during the international climate conference in Dubai, saying, “It’s always a pleasure to meet friends.” Meloni has always described him as a ‘dear friend’.

After the results of this vote, he was the first among the European leaders to congratulate Modi. It is known that Modi will visit Italy this time to talk about health, food security, and development. There, he will highlight India’s achievements at the G20. He will also call for strengthening Italy’s relations with India in the coming days. However, he will avoid anti-Russian proposals in the G-7; that’s what the diplomatic circles think.
Narendra Modi has been invited to the ‘Summit on Peace in Ukraine’ program in addition to Italy. It will be held on June 16 in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. It is not probable that he will be there, though. He will have to come back to the nation in time for a possible parliamentary session.
