The country is preparing for a change in the ruling party. The advantage of the opposition Labor Party of Great Britain over the ruling Conservative Party of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has increased to 18 points, according to the results of the survey.
National elections are expected in the country later this year. As per Reuters, an Opinium Research survey revealed that Labor secured 43% of the vote, while the Conservatives secured 25%.
The previous poll showed Labor leading by 16 points.
Rishi Sunak and Labor leader Keir Starmer are increasingly turning the economy into an election battleground, Opinium notes. Opinium highlights that Labor is leading the way on economic issues, including improving public services and managing the economy.

2,029 UK voters took part in the survey from May 15 to 17.
Labor had a 30-point lead in a YouGov poll for the Times that was released on May 9.
Conservatives have been in government—in a coalition or independently—since 2010. During this time, Britain voted to leave the European Union, and the country encountered disputes regarding the settlement of the COVID crisis.
