A member of the US Air Force has died by setting himself on fire in front of the Israeli embassy.
He was heard chanting “Free Palestine” while setting the fire, AFP reported, citing US media.
The incident took place in front of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, USA, on Sunday afternoon local time. The soldier died on Monday when he was admitted to a hospital in a critical condition.
The Air Force member has been identified as 25-year-old Aaron Bushnell. He is a resident of Texas. He died while undergoing treatment, the Metropolitan Police Department said.
Earlier, the spokesperson of the Israeli embassy said that no one in the embassy was injured when the man set the body on fire.
According to US media reports, the man can be heard saying that he no longer wants to involve himself in crimes like genocide in the US live video streaming on Twitch. Then, he doused his body in combustible material and heated himself.
