The forces of the United States of America intercepted several missiles that Iran launched at Israel on October 1, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said. He called the missile attack by Iran an “outrageous act of aggression” and condemned it.
“Today, US forces in the Middle East intercepted several missiles fired by Iran towards Israel as we fulfilled our commitment to cooperate with Israel in its defense. We condemn this outrageous act of aggression by Iran and call on Iran to cease any further attacks, including by its proxy terrorist groups,” Austin said in a statement posted on the Pentagon’s website.
In the Middle East, the US will never hesitate to defend its forces and interests, according to the US Secretary of Defense. Furthermore, Austin guaranteed that the US would back Israel’s defense as well as that of its regional allies.
“Our forces remain in position to protect American forces and partners in the Middle East, and the Department maintains a significant capacity to protect our people, provide further support to Israel’s self-defense, and deter further escalation. I will continue to closely monitor the situation and consult with our allies and partners,” Austin added.
Recall that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared on Tuesday evening that it had fired rockets at Israel. Israel claims that Iran fired close to 200 missiles. However, what’s surprising is that the source claims this attack resulted in one Palestinian death and some Israeli injuries.
But the reason why no Israeli citizens were killed in such a massive attack is because about 65% of Israelis have a room in their house or apartment that is a bomb shelter.
Referring to the Iranian attack as a declaration of war, the Israel Defense Forces declared that they would launch a “unprecedented response.” Iran “made a big mistake” when it launched a massive ballistic missile attack, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and it will pay a price for it.
