The Ultimate Fighting Championship, or UFC, announced a new partnership with IBM on Thursday, November 14, 2024. Signed in New York, the deal designates the business as the UFC’s worldwide artificial intelligence (AI) partner. The partnership will produce the UFC Insights Engine, an insights engine driven by WatsonX, IBM‘s artificial intelligence. Early 2025 is when the launch is planned to occur.
The UFC Insights Engine will provide real-time, up-to-date information during updates. For the first time, a brand in MMA promotion has been given this designation. A variety of platforms, such as pre-event programming, alternative pay-per-view, social media channels, and on-site video screens, will incorporate the IBM-branded graphics, statistics, and insights.
“Together, we are pioneering a product that will revolutionize live sports analytics and insights,” said Grant Norris-Jones, head of global partnerships for TKO (technical knockout), the UFC’s parent company. “This partnership marks a critical win not only for UFC and IBM but also for fans around the world,” he added.
As stated by Jonathan Adashek, senior vice president of marketing and communications at IBM, “data and AI solutions like the UFC Insights Engine, powered by IBM WatsonX, can give current fans entirely new ways to connect with their favorite athletes and sports, while also generating excitement among new generations of MMA fans.”
