Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference after the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit that he would support former US President Donald Trump’s proposals to settle the Russian-Ukrainian war.
“I’m not familiar with his possible suggestions as to how he intends to do it, and that, of course, is the key question. But I have no doubt that he says it sincerely, and we will support it,” Putin said on July 4, according to Bloomberg.
Putin’s statement came against the background of an earlier call by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi to Trump to publicize his plan for a “quick end to the war” with Russia, and he himself is personally ready to meet with Trump to hear his team’s proposals. “They cannot plan my life and the lives of our people and our children. We want to understand whether we will have strong support from the USA in November or whether we will remain alone,” Zelenskyy said.

It will be recalled that earlier, Zelensky suggested that Putin may be invited to the next peace summit, but he is not sure that he will sit down at the negotiating table in the near future.
Earlier, at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Putin said that he is ready to base negotiations with Ukraine on the so-called “Istanbul Agreements,” which repeat ultimatums about the neutrality of Ukraine.
