The Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris (Democratic Party), told campaign donors on Friday (July 19, 2024) that the party would win the election. The statement was made in a call to reassure the group, which is pressuring President Joe Biden (Democratic Party) to give up his candidacy.
“We are going to win this election,” said Kamala, according to reports from participants heard by the Reuters news agency. “We know which candidate in this election puts the American people first: our president, Joe Biden,” he added.
The campaign asked donors to attend the 30-minute meeting “to discuss urgent and emerging needs,” according to the invitation to the conversation, which the news agency had access to.

In addition to donors, Biden has been pressured by politicians in his own party to withdraw from the candidacy. To date, at least 36 Democrats in the US Congress have called for the president’s resignation from the election race. There are 31 deputies, 4 senators, and 1 vice governor.
Biden, aged 81, is the oldest American chief executive to command the White House. His advanced age, along with doubts about his cognitive and mental capacity, worries supporters. If re-elected, he will be 86 years old when he leaves government.

There are video recordings of several embarrassing situations in which Biden stumbles, shows weakness, or even shows memory lapses. A recent report by the Wall Street Journal interviewed dozens of people, including Republicans and Democrats, who participated in meetings with Biden and reported that the country’s president often dozes off during meetings.
In June, the North American newspaper also published a long article listing moments in which Biden makes mistakes, such as disconnecting from conversations, closing his eyes, and giving the impression of having some memory confusion.
