After 9:00 pm on Tuesday night suddenly there was a problem in accessing and using social media owned by Meta, Facebook, Instagram and messaging app Messenger from different countries including Bangladesh. Even individuals with active accounts on Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram were immediately logged out. Not being able to use Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, many people get worried about whether their account has been hacked or not. However, after 10:30 PM, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger are activated in various countries including India. Although the problem has been solved, the discussion is still going on in the technology world as to why the social media was down.

Soon after Facebook, Instagram, Messenger stopped working, there were rumors in the technology world that social media could not be used due to server down. However, Meta did not provide any specific information about this. After the launch of Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, Meta’s head of communications, Andy Stone, posted a message on the small blogging site X (formerly Twitter). There he wrote, ‘Those who faced problems, their problems were solved in the fastest time. We apologize for this problem. However, his post did not provide any information about the cause of the problem.

According to technology analysts, March 5 was the last day to make changes in various services of major technology companies to meet the conditions of the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). Following this idea, Meta is also attempting to make a number of adjustments to its own social media platforms. With this process, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger may suddenly lose connection. This problem has nothing to do with cyber attacks. In this regard, a senior official of the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency of the United States said that no cyber attack has been found so far with Facebook, Instagram, Messenger being down.
