Elon Musk has filed a lawsuit against American artificial intelligence company OpenAI and its co-founder and CEO Sam Altman for breach of contract.
Elon Musk filed this case in the city of San Francisco on Thursday local time.
According to Reuters, Elon Musk alleges in the lawsuit that he helped the company when it founded OpenAI. A condition of the agreement was that the institution would be non-profit making. But OpenAI and Sam Altman violated that condition. For this reason, he approached the court.
According to the lawsuit, Sam Altman and another OpenAI co-founder, Greg Brockman, first approached Elon Musk about starting a nonprofit to work on artificial intelligence. Elon Musk agreed to this. There was an agreement between them, not profit, this organization will work for human welfare. But OpenAI, which has Microsoft’s investment, is currently turning a profit. This constitutes a breach of the terms of the contract.
Elon Musk is a co-founder of OpenAI, founded in 2015. But in 2018, he stepped down from the board of directors of the company.

Reuters reached out to OpenAI and Microsoft about the alleged breach of contract terms, but did not receive a response. Meanwhile, Elon Musk also did not comment on this except filing a lawsuit.
