The wedding of Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Indian Mukesh Ambani, the richest man in Asia, attracted a series of personalities last weekend, showing the tycoon’s influence in the political and business world. The event was called by international press outlets “the wedding of the year.”.
According to Forbes, the groom’s father is the 9th richest man in the world, being the 1st Asian in the ranking. He has an estimated net worth of US$116 billion. His conglomerate, Reliance Industries, operates in the black chemicals, oil and gas, telecommunications, and retail sectors and has reported more than US$100 billion in annual revenue.

Anant married Radhika Merchant; both are 29 years old. While he works in the renewable and green energy division of his father’s conglomerate, she is the daughter of Viren Merchant, a pharmaceutical mogul, and works as the marketing director for his company, Encore Healthcare, according to Vogue India.
The celebration started on Friday, July 12, 2024, and should last 4 days. It is being held at the Ambani-owned Jio World Convention Center and at the family home in Mumbai. The total cost of the wedding is estimated at up to 13 billion rupees (US$156 million), according to the BBC. The families did not reveal the costs.
A traditional Hindu wedding ceremony marked the start of the festivities, which continued all weekend with luxurious receptions. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, participated in one of these events on Saturday (July 13). According to broadcaster India Today, the newlyweds asked Modi for blessings.
