Apple and Real Madrid are negotiating to create an augmented reality fan experience. The project, called Infinite Santiago Bernabéu, intends to offer a 360-degree perspective of the games and the stadium setting.
The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, confirmed the initiative during a meeting held on the 6th (Nov. 22, 2024). The project responds to the high demand for tickets, which exceeds the capacity of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, now with 85,000 seats after recent renovation.
Madrid president Pérez addressed the issue by declaring, “Everyone wants to come to the Santiago Bernabéu, and that’s why we’re negotiating with Apple to create glasses that allow you to watch games as if you were in the stadium. That would be the idea behind Infinite Santiago Bernabéu.”
“It’s not Matrix; it’s Real Madrid and the future. It will be the end of ‘no tickets available’ or the famous’sold out’,” said Madrid president Pérez.
A panoramic LED monitor was set up as part of the approximately $1 billion renovation project at the Santiago Bernabéu. In order to finance the modernization, the club borrowed 575 million euros at a 2.5% interest rate. The Sun reported that the club intends to repay the loan in 25.5 million euros a year until 2049.
