Donald Trump, the Republican Party’s nominee for president, has already extended invitations to a few world leaders to attend his inauguration on January 20, 2025. The Republican transition team claims that Xi Jinping (Communist Party of China) and Javier Milei (La Libertad Avanza) from Argentina are among the heads of state invited.
According to various media, Xi Jinping’s presence at the event is unlikely. A delegation of high-ranking officials is expected to represent the Chinese leader at the inauguration, according to CNN. When asked about Xi Jinping’s presence, the Republican declined to answer but said the two had a “very good relationship.” He added, “I invited a lot of great people, and they all accepted. Everyone I invited accepted.”
Trump also invited El Salvador President Nayib Bukele (Nuevas Ideas) and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni (Brothers of Italy). “This is an example of President Trump creating an open dialogue with leaders of countries that are not only allies but also our adversaries and competitors,” Karoline Leavitt, a Trump spokeswoman, told Fox News.
Some of the invitations to attend the presidential inauguration have been made informally, such as in telephone discussions.
Amazon and Meta’s donations
According to The Washington Post, tech companies Amazon and Meta have each contributed $1 million to Donald Trump’s inauguration fund. Despite criticizing the Republican during his first term, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos said he was hopeful for Trump’s new administration. “And my view is, if I can help him do that, I’ll help him do that, because we have too much regulation in this country,” he said.
