This year is a great year for the world’s millionaires, or billionaires. Despite obstacles such as war, political unrest, and high inflation, the assets of the rich continue to rise in value. In the last year, their assets have increased by two hundred million dollars. Forbes magazine reported this information in the new list of rich people for 2024.

Bernard Arnault and his family now top the list of rich people. In Forbes magazine’s Richest in 2024 report, this family has retained its top position. In January of this year, Bernard Arnault overtook Elon Musk to become the world’s richest man. The value of his wealth is $233 billion.

Amazon co-founder Jeff Bezos ranks second on the list of richest people in 2024—his net worth is $200 billion. Elon Musk is in third place. The founder of Tesla has a net worth of $195 billion. Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg is in fourth place with $177 billion. In fifth place is Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison. His net worth is $114 billion.

There have never been more billionaires in the world than in the past. Now there are 2 thousand 781 millionaires. This number is 141 more than last year and 26 more than in 2021, when the last record number of billionaires was set.

With the increase in the number of millionaires, their total wealth has naturally increased. In total, their assets are now worth 14 million to 20 thousand billion dollars. This figure is $2 trillion more than in 2023 and $110 billion more than the last record in 2021.

Two-thirds of the top 100 millionaires saw their wealth increase over the past year, while only a quarter of the richest saw their wealth fall. The wealth of the top 20 wealthiest has grown the most. Their wealth has increased by a total of 70 thousand billion dollars. By nationality, the wealthiest in the U.S. have grown the most. The list now has a record 813 US rich people. Their combined assets are worth 5.7 trillion dollars.

Donors, the Oracle of Omaha, and investment king Warren Buffett are in sixth place on Forbes’ list of the richest people. Today, his net worth is $133 billion. 7th place is Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates; his net worth is $128 billion. Alphabet co-founder Larry Page is in eighth place. His net worth is $128 billion. Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and Alphabet co-founder Sergey Brin are in 9th place with $124 billion. His net worth is $123 billion.
All but the Bernard Arnault family, which ranks first among the top 10 richest, are Americans; the Arnault family is French.

The Chinese are the richest people after the Americans. The number of centenarians among the rich in mainland China, including Hong Kong citizens, is 473. Although the economic condition of the country is not good,  Due to the ongoing crisis in various sectors, including the country’s housing sector, the value of the assets of the Chinese rich has decreased by 30 thousand billion dollars. India ranks third on the list with 200 billionaires, a new record for the country’s richest people. That is, there have never been so many Indian millionaires before.

Mukesh Ambani, India’s and Asia’s richest man, is ranked 11th on the list. His net worth is $116 billion. Gautam Adani, another Indian richest man and once Asia’s richest man, has a net worth of $84 billion—his position at 17th.

Forbes has been using stock prices and currency exchange rates since March 8 to list the top billionaires in 2024. However, the assets of most of the rich fell yesterday.
