Newly elected Donald Trump has chosen Kash Patel as the director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (FBI). He announced his name yesterday, Saturday (30 November 2024).
Trump announced the name of his former adviser and Pentagon official, Kash Patel, in a post on his social media, Truth Social. His appointment would require the resignation of the current head of the FBI.
Outside of the elected government, some central agencies, notably the FBI and the CIA, operate independently on various government issues. This is known as the ‘Deep State’. Kash Patel has criticized the government on these issues. He has also written books on the subject. A lot of explosive information regarding the US government was discussed. Patel, a lawyer, served in several high-level positions during Trump’s first term. He served as director of national intelligence and adviser to the secretary of the interior during Trump’s first term as president.
According to Reuters, in an interview on the Shawn Ryan Show in September, Patel said, “The biggest problem the FBI has had has come out of its intel shops. I want to change that. I’m going to close the FBI’s Hoover building, and the next day it’s going to be a new museum, which I will inaugurate.” He also said, “7,000 Hoover workers will be pulled out of the building and deployed across the United States. Ask them to catch criminals like the police.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Kash is a skilled lawyer, investigator, and America First warrior. He has worked to expose corruption, uphold justice, and protect the American people.”
Trump said Kash had done an outstanding job during his first term. He (Kash) will work to combat America’s epidemic of crime, dismantle immigrant gangs, and stop human and drug trafficking across the border.
