Both Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez have scored one goal apiece, making their combination still seem amazing. Nashville’s opponent had a goal disallowed by VAR. But Inter Miami still did not win. In the first leg of the last sixteen of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, Messi-Suarez’s Inter Miami returned from Nashville with a 2-2 draw.

There were already signs that Messi-Suarez would not have an easy time in the game at GEODIS Stadium in Nashville. One thing became evident in American football after Messi signed with Inter Miami: fans of the Florida team always attended games wearing Messi’s jersey, wherever the team played. Nashville released a statement the day before the game because they didn’t want this to be seen during today’s match. No Nashville supporter ought to show up to the game wearing a Miami jersey!

Still unbeaten in Major League Soccer this season, Nashville trailed Messi in the fourth minute of the game. Jacob Schaffelberg scored the goal that gave Nashville the lead. Nashville doubled the lead in the 46th minute.

At one time, it seemed that Messi-Suarez would not be able to prevent Miami’s defeat today. But in the 52nd minute, Miami closed the gap with the chemistry of both of them. Suarez got the ball just outside the box and passed to Messi. Messi sent the ball into the net with a powerful left foot shot from outside the box.

Messi-Suarez-Busquets hit the Nashville defense with a wave of attacks after getting the goal that narrowed the gap. But against the flow of the game, Nashville sent the ball to Miami’s net in the 84th minute. However, VAR disallowed the goal.

After that, the Nashville players completely focused on defense. But the Messi-Suarez-Busquets trio could not be stopped by Nashville’s defense in the end. In the 5th minute of added time, Suarez headed the ball into the net from a cross from Busquets from the right wing and gave Miami a draw.
