World’s richest man Elon Musk’s support for Germany’s far-right and right-wing populist political party Alternative for Germany is a logical and systematic play to weaken a Europe that the strong will not be able to control, German Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck said in his New Year’s address. Habeck clarified that Musk’s calls were not a result of ignorance. Reuters reported.
The German government on Monday (Dec 30) accused Musk of trying to influence the upcoming election with a guest opinion piece in the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag.
In addition to supporting Trump’s election campaign, he also donated $250 million to help him win. And Trump said during the election campaign that he would appoint Musk to government if he won. And after winning, Musk was tasked with cutting the federal budget as a special adviser.
According to Reuters, billionaire Musk endorsed the AfD as Germany’s last hope, prompting the columnist to resign in protest.
Earlier, a senior lawmaker from Germany’s social democratic party protested against Elon Musk’s interference in German politics.
