Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz has called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities to stop “atrocious crimes” and “provide safe humanitarian corridors” in Gaza. He made the call in a written statement on Sunday without mentioning the country’s name amid the ongoing Israeli attack on Gaza.

Information Minister Salman Al-Dosari read the written statement on behalf of the king. Salman bin Abdul Aziz gave this speech on the occasion of the start of the holy month of Ramadan from Monday in various countries including Saudi Arabia.

The monarch of Saudi Arabia stated, “It is painful for us that the month of Ramadan has come this year when our brothers in Palestine are being attacked.”

This Ramadan, the situation in the besieged Gaza Strip will appear differently. In such a situation, the residents of the valley are preparing for Ramadan, when Israel is carrying out indiscriminate attacks there.

Israel’s attack on Gaza has been going on for more than five months. The Valley’s Ministry of Health said on Sunday that at least 31,45 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since the start of the conflict on October 7. Many are buried under the rubble. 72 thousand 654 people were injured. Among them, 85 people were killed in the previous 24 hours.

Not only blood loss, but also hunger in the run-up to Ramadan has plagued Gazans. At least 25 people have died of starvation in the Gaza Strip since October 7, according to Gaza authorities.

The UN‘s Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA says the situation in northern Gaza is dire. Relief is not being delivered by road despite repeated calls. And as Ramadan approaches, so does the loss of life. In such a situation, the Gaza municipal authorities have called for assistance from international organizations.

Meanwhile, according to information provided by the Palestinian Authority, more than 1,000 mosques have been destroyed by Israeli attacks in Gaza since the beginning of the ongoing conflict.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has given a message of solidarity with the people of Gaza ahead of Ramadan. He said, ‘I express my solidarity and support to all those who are in dire straits in Gaza. Ramadan will show us the light of hope in this difficult time.
