On Saturday (February 28), US President Donald Trump warned that the number of American casualties could rise after announcing the launch of a “major combat operation” in Iran.

According to President Trump, the military operation is aimed at destroying Iran’s missiles and navy, which could lead to a heated situation in the Middle East. The US and Israel, two close allies, have repeatedly warned that they will strike again if Iran continues its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

Trump said in a video shared by Truth Social that his administration had taken all possible steps to reduce the risk to US personnel in the region.

“The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost and we may have casualties that often happens in war, but we’re doing this, not for now. We’re doing this for the future, and it is a noble mission,” Trump said in his video message.

According to Reuters, US officials said the operation, codenamed “Epic Fury,” will continue in Iran for several days.

This is the second time the United States has attacked Iran in an attempt to thwart its nuclear program since Trump returned to the White House in 2025. The first was in June, when Washington carried out ground strikes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities.

Additionally, a US official told Reuters that the US attack on Iran could last for several days.

In his video message, President Trump called on members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to surrender their weapons, promising that they would be protected. He also warned that if they did not surrender, they would face certain death.
