WhatsApp’s one-way broadcasting tool, Channels, now offers a ton of additional options. Mark Zuckerberg announced on Wednesday that the Channels will be getting voice notes, multiple admins, sharing to polls and status updates, and other improvements. Giving users more ways to engage with WhatsApp Channels is the aim of these enhancements.

Although channel administrators can still send media and text messages to their followers, voice notes open up new possibilities for audience interaction. Our past coverage of Whats-App beta upgrades has given us a good idea of what some of these items might entail.

Updates in Private for the WhatsApp

Users can receive critical updates from people and organizations in private through new whatsapp Channels. With these updates distinct from private conversations, users can easily stay up to date on the newest information directly within the Whats-App main app.

The next feature that lets channel admins quickly gauge the opinions of their base is polling. This suggests that the functionality that has long been a cornerstone of Whats-App group conversations will be extended to channels as well. It surprised us that it took this long to get added to the feature set. As per Zuckerberg’s poll, which is displayed below, users will have the ability to select multiple options simultaneously. Notable additions include the addition of voice updates, a popular feature that lets users share updates via voice messages. Seven billion voice messages are sent by Whats-App users every day; channels can now use this feature as well.

Although a release date for these additions is not specified, it is evident that they have officially exited the beta stage. Days or even weeks may pass before these features appear in the stable versions of Whats-App for iOS, Android, WhatsApp Web, and desktop apps. The ability to share channel posts through Status updates is the only addition that is specifically geared toward subscribers; the majority of these changes are aimed at channel owners. Still, these new additions will significantly enhance brand-customer engagement on WhatsApp’s one-way broadcasting feature.
