A significant leak appears to confirm that Samsung is getting ready to reveal a tri-fold smartphone design that could revolutionize mobile devices, marking a dramatic shift in the foldable tech industry. The tech community is incredibly interested in this startling revelation, which surfaced just weeks before the company’s anticipated summer Unpacked event.

An animated image from a One UI 8 software comes with android 16 build purports to depict what some are referring to as a “Galaxy G Fold” device with three display panels, according to a report by Android Authority. The screens will be able to cooperate to form a single, large display or show various pieces of information. Early next week, the new phone model might make its debut at Samsung’s Unpacked event in Brooklyn, New York.

The tri-fold phone, according to the leak, would have two hinges that would allow it to fold twice into a tiny package. It could unfold into a small, nearly 7.5-inch tablet-like display. The leaked design claims that the device has three panels and a sizable triple-camera setup on the back of the right hand site panel when it is fully unfolded. Animations indicate that the NFC chip will also be located on this same back panel.

With a front-facing camera, the central panel looks to serve as the cover display when the device is folded. This front-facing camera is located on the right side when it is unfolded; this is the same panel that contains the rear cameras on the back. Optimized for the larger display area, the One UI interface featured flexible app continuity, an improved taskbar, and split-screen multitasking across three panes.

According to insiders, Samsung’s next-generation Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) 3.0, which is said to be more resilient and less likely to wrinkle, may be included in the device. The device’s likely folding mechanism is demonstrated in one animation, which shows two hinges of varying sizes.

Another animation cautions users against folding the right panel first because the camera module will make it impossible for the display to fold flat, and the left panel won’t be able to fold all the way without possibly breaking the device. This tri-fold might be Samsung’s most sophisticated foldable engineering to date when combined with these enhanced hinge mechanics and water resistance.

In August 2025, Samsung is expected to host its Galaxy Unpacked event, and many people are guessing that this new tri-fold gadget might be the “one more thing.” Samsung’s internal testing cycles coincide with the software leak’s timing, indicating that the tri-fold may be at least teased, if not officially released.

As Chinese manufacturers like Huawei and TCL race to produce multi-fold and rollable concepts, Samsung’s tri-fold design could secure its leadership in the foldable category. It also provides a direct response to rising demand for pocketable tablets that can offer laptop-like multitasking on the go.
