In an attack on several passersby, a man in Switzerland seriously injured two people and slightly injured four others. The perpetrator was arrested. The 40-year-old’s motivation is still a mystery, according to a Thursday night report from the canton of Aargau police. With stabbing wounds, all six victims were sent to the hospital. Along with being under guard, the offender was also being treated for stabbing wounds.
The crime happened on Wednesday afternoon in Zofingen, in the canton of Aargau, around 50 kilometers southeast of Basel. Not long after 4 p.m., the police got an emergency call reporting that a man was attacking people in a small town with about 12,500 residents. The police claimed that he was carrying weapons that could stab or cut. Along with a large contingent, they moved out and surrounded the train station with barricades.
Because she could not completely rule out the possibility that multiple perpetrators were out and about, she initially asked residents to stay in their homes and close their windows and doors. It turned out that this was a false alarm later on. The police stated that “it is likely that this was the crime of an individual, given the current state of the investigation.”
The man went into a building and escaped when the police came. After two hours, special forces were able to get in touch with him and take him into custody, according to the police. At first, she was not able to say anything about the offender. He had no identification papers with him.
