A new poll released this week indicates that women are beginning to support Vice President Kamala Harris on the economy, which is a major concern for voters ahead of the November election.

According to a survey by American University (AU) and Benenson Strategy Group, 51% of women believe Harris will combat rising food and gas prices in addition to inflation. About 37 percent said the same about her Republican rival, former President Trump, The Hill reported.

On immigration, another important issue, people have greater faith in the Democratic Party. About 44 percent of those polled said they trusted Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Volz, to handle the border issue, while 40 percent preferred the former president, according to pollsters.

Additionally, according to the survey, Harris’s standing with independent women has grown by 23 points from the previous year. 38% disagreed with her, while about 51% supported her. In the survey, 34% of respondents approved of the former president, while 57% disapproved of him.

Among 829 women who are registered to vote, the AU survey was conducted from September 20โ€“24. At a 95% confidence level, the margin of error was 3.4 percentage points.
