The body of an official of the Indian Embassy in Washington has been recovered. The body was recovered from inside the embassy premises on Wednesday. This information was provided by Indian Embassy in Washington officials, PTI source.
In a statement today, the Indian Embassy said, ‘It is with deep sadness that we confirm that a member of the Indian Embassy passed away on the evening of September 18. We are in touch with his family and all concerned agencies to ensure that the body is brought back to India as soon as possible.’
The incident was reported at 10:19 p.m. on Wednesday, according to bnonews, when fire crews were called to the Indian Embassy, which is located at 2107 Massachusetts Avenue NW, for an unresponsive person.
The man appeared to have hanged himself, according to paramedics, and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately revealed to the public.
The Metropolitan Police Department verified that they received a call for a deceased person just after 10 p.m. A representative told bnonews, “At this time, no foul play is suspected and a death investigation is underway.”Â
