Chelsea 4 : 2 Leicester City

A penalty was missed by Raheem Sterling in the first half. The English forward took a free-kick in the second half that many on social media claimed was the worst free-kick they had ever seen.

The Chelsea fans in attendance at Stamford Bridge were no less. They even shouted in protest in the gallery, demanding Sterling’s removal. After listening to their demands, the Chelsea coach took Sterling off the field and brought on Noni Madueke in the 86th minute.

Chelsea‘s fortunes changed shortly after. The West London club reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup after beating Leicester City 4-2 in extra time with two substitute goals.

Sterling’s replacement, Noni Madueke, scored the last of those two goals. The 22-year-old winger, who plays for England’s age group, scored a great goal with a curved shot. Earlier, another substitute, Carney Chukwuemeka, put Mauricio Pochettino’s side ahead in the third minute of added time.

Chelsea could have gone 3-0 up in the first half if Sterling hadn’t missed the penalty. Chelsea doubled their lead in first-half added time when Marc Cuqueira scored in the 13th minute. Cole Palmer’s goal this time. Sterling missed the penalty in the 27th minute. Leicester’s Polish goalkeeper, Jakub Stolarczyk, had no trouble saving the weak shot.

As soon as the second half started, the Championship League team Leicester came back into the match. However, this goal in 52 minutes was a gift from Chelsea to Leicester. Axel Disasi ridiculously stuck the ball in his own net while giving a back pass.

Leicester equalized after 11 minutes with a great goal. Stephy Mavididi scored with a great right-footed shot.

A great comeback saw Leicester in danger on 73 minutes when Callum Dowell was shown a red card. The referee, however, first showed Dowell a yellow card and gave Chelsea a penalty. The decision was later changed by VAR.  Due to a foul just outside the penalty box, Chelsea received a free kick instead of a penalty, and Dowell saw a red card instead of a yellow.

Sterling sends the ball into ‘space’ with that free kick.
