Cristiano Ronaldo says he always enjoys playing football and is still confident of reaching his 1,000 career goal mark, after the Portuguese star was named the Best Middle East Player at the Globe Soccer Awards for the second consecutive time in Dubai on Sunday (December 28).

Ronaldo scored twice for Al-Nassr against Al-Okhdood in the Saudi Pro League on Saturday, taking his goal tally for club and country to 956. The 40-year-old had previously said he could probably play “one or two years.”

“It’s hard to continue playing, but I am motivated,” he said after receiving the award on Sunday.

Ronaldo mentioned that he has a lot of passion for the game and said, “I want to continue. It doesn’t matter where I play, whether in the Middle East or Europe. I always enjoy playing football, and I want to keep going.”

“You know what my goal is. I want to win trophies and I want to reach that number (1,000 goals) that you all know. I will reach the number for sure, if no injuries.”

However, Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in December 2022 and helped them win the Arab Club Champions Cup the following year but has yet to win a major trophy for the club since then, although he did win the UEFA Nations League this year with the national team Portugal.
