Albanian singer and songwriter Dua Lipa concluded the Australian leg of her Radical Optimism World Tour on March 29 with a simple, duet-style performance of “Big Jet Plane” with Australian singer and songwriter Angus Stone for Sydney fans.
At the Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney Olympic Park, fans broke into song as Lipa ended her eight-show arena run with the Hottest 100-winning 2010 single, originally released by couple Angus and Julia Stone. “This was the perfect song to end with,” Lipa told the crowd. “Since I have to catch a big jet plane tomorrow!”
Julia wasn’t there, but Angus—who also plays as Dope Lemon—led the crowd in a classic Aussie music moment. It wasn’t his first time performing the song with a major star; in 2023, he sang it with American singer Post Malone’s “Famous for Rockstar” at the opening ceremony for the Red Hot Chili Peppers in Melbourne.
Throughout the tour, Lipa paid tribute to a different Australian artist each night, performing everything from classic pub rock to modern hits—sometimes with special guests. The tour opened in Melbourne with a powerful rendition of AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell,” followed by Australian-British singer Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn,” Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out of My Head,” and in a special moment, she brought Troye Sivan on stage to perform “Rush.”
His eight covers, all of which highlight a different era of Australian music and showcase Lipa’s deep appreciation for the country’s diverse soundscape, pay homage to other locals, including Vance Joy, rock band INXS, Troye Sivan, and Kevin Parker.
Lipa’s first Australian tour (starting in March 2025) was for Radical Optimism, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart in May 2024. Meanwhile, according to Luminate, the album sold 51,500 copies in its first week in the U.S., making it its biggest sales week to date, indicating its popularity.
Popular singer Dua Lipa’s Radical Optimism tour kicked off in Singapore on November 5, 2024, and will conclude in Seattle, Washington, on October 16, 2025. It is her third ongoing concert tour. The tour will take place in various countries in Asia, Oceania, Europe, and North America.
