FC Barcelona beat Real Madrid 5-2 in the Supercopa de España (or Spanish Super Cup) final at King Abdullah Sport City Stadium, Saudi Arabia. This was the first trophy that Barcelona coach Hansi Flick had won. And Barca’s 15th trophy.
First half
Barcelona attacked at the beginning of the first half of the game, but Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made an excellent save. In the 5th minute, Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring for Madrid’s counterattack. Then 17-year-old Lamine Yamal equalized for Barcelona in the 22nd minute. After that, Robert Lewandowski took advantage of Madrid’s mistake and scored a penalty to give Barcelona a 2-1 lead.
Then again in the 39th minute, Raphinha scored a wonderful header to make it 3-1. And at the end of the first extra time, 21-year-old Alejandro Balde scored in the 45+10th minute to give Barcelona a 4-1 lead. Barca’s 4-1 goal lead in the first half almost assured victory.
Second half
At the start of the second half, Rodrygo made a powerful shot, but the ball hit Barcelona’s bar post and went wide. Raphinha countered for Barcelona in the 48th minute with a superb goal to put the team 5-1 up and almost seal victory.
Then in the 53rd minute, Barça goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny tackled Mbappé just outside the box during a Madrid counter-attack, leading to the referee showing a red card. As a result, Barcelona lost one player. That foul resulted in Rodrigo scoring a superb free kick to put Madrid up 2-5.
Barcelona played with 10 men for the rest of the period, and Madrid tried many attacks but failed. When the referee blew the final whistle, Barcelona won the Supercopa de España final.
Goalkeeper Iñaki Peña Sotorres made his debut for Barcelona when goalkeeper Szczęsny was sent off after receiving a red card. This new goalkeeper performed well in the match.

Raphinha, Lewandowski, Jules Koundé, and Marc Casadó made 1 assist each for Barcelona in the final. Raphinha 2, Lewandowski 1, Alejandro Balde 1, and Lamine Yamal 1 scored for the team.
First trophy
11 players from Barcelona‘s youth academy, La Masia, have been part of the first Spanish Super Cup trophy. And this Super Cup is the first trophy for 13 players.
And in the 2023 Spanish Super Cup final, Real Madrid lost 3–1 to Barcelona. Benzema was part of Madrid at that time. And in 2024, Madrid beat Barcelona 3-1 to win the Super Cup.
