A spinner of Gujarat Titans has to be punished for breach of contract. He was exiled for 12 months by the UAE T20 League authorities.
Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmed has been banned from International League T20 for 12 months. He has been punished for breaching the contract with the Sharjah Warriors franchise.
Noor will not be able to play in the United Arab Emirates T20 League for one year. He became the second Afghanistan cricketer to be punished in this competition. Earlier, fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq was also banished by the competition authorities for breach of contract.
Noor was bought by Sharjah Warriors in the first year of the competition. He allegedly refused to sign a final contract before the start of the second season. He informed about playing South African T20 instead of International League T20 League. However, he had already agreed to play for Sharjah Warriors in the second season as well. Noor was initially banned for 20 months following a complaint by the franchise authority. Later the punishment was reduced to 12 months considering the age and future of the young cricketer.
“Noor Ahmed has been banned for 12 months for breach of contract with Sharjah Warriors,” the International League T20 Authority said in a statement. Warriors officials requested a one-year contract extension for Nur. Noor did not want to accept it. He refused to sign the retention notice. In the 2023 season, Noor played for Sharjah Warriors in the International League T20. According to the players’ contract, he was also asked to play in the second season. As Noor refused, the franchise authority sought intervention.
