Chatbots with artificial intelligence (AI) technology, like ChatGPT, are constantly learning. Just like humans, chatbots require training. ChatGPT takes training from various databases on the Internet. This chatbot presents that information to people. OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, is going to take that training one step further. Recently, Open AI has decided to enter into a five-year contract with US media outlet News Corp. As a result of this agreement, ChatGPT will be able to take training from all the databases of News Corp. OpenAI will pay $25 million for this deal.
‘News Corp.’ is the parent company of famous American media such as The Wall Street Journal, The Sun, The Time, The New York Post, Market Watch, and the Sunday Times. Through this agreement, ChatGPT will have access to the databases and reports of major media outlets. As a result, the reports of journalists involved with these organizations will come into the hands of ChatGPT.
Sam Altman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OpenAI, said this agreement is going to usher in a new future where AI will respect the journalism profession and highlight ideal journalism.

Prior to this agreement, OpenAI had come under fire for training ChatGPT on data and reports from the Internet without permission. The case against OpenAI and Microsoft. The company will be exempt from such lawsuits in the future through the $25 million agreement. Recently, The Financial Times reported that the company has also signed agreements with several organizations, including Reddit and the Associated Press.
However, OpenAl’s proposal was rejected outright by the New York Times. They believe that these reports are the result of hard work of journalists. OpenAl has used the information without permission. In addition, the New York Times has expressed doubts about how this journalistic information will be used in the future.
