Brawls and clashes have become a regular occurrence in Turkey’s top league this season. In a match yesterday, Trabzonspor fans entered the field and attacked Fenerbahรงe players. Fans of host Trabzonspor entered the field immediately after Fenerbahรงe won the match 3-2.
Various pictures taken during the incident showed a group of Trabzonspor fans entering the pitch and running towards the Fenerbahรงe players, who were celebrating the victory. Some even try to beat the players. Fenerbahรงe players also lashed out at some of the fans. At this time, more supporters of Trabzonspor entered the field.
In the video, Fenerbahรงe’s Belgian footballer, Michy Batshuayi, kicks a supporter. At the same time, the team’s Nigerian player, Bright Osayi-Samuel, punched a Trabzonspor fan.

Trabzonspor’s supporters didn’t stop either. A supporter took the corner flag and scolded a Fenerbach player. One punched Fenerbahรงe goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic in the face.
Ali Yerlikaya, the interior minister of Turkey, declared an inquiry into the incident following it. The Turkish Football Federation called the incident “unacceptable.”ย However, this is not the first such incident in Turkish football this season. The league was suspended for a week after referee Umut Meler was attacked on the pitch during a match between Ankaragucu and Rizespor last December.
Not only in this season, but such incidents have been happening in Turkish football for years. In 2016, a match was abandoned after a Trabzonspor fan attacked the referee. A gunman attacked Fenerbahce’s bus in 2015 as it was traveling from the city of Rijeka to the airport. In 2014, a match between Fenerbahรงe and Trabzonspor was suspended at halftime after fans threw objects onto the pitch.
