On Tuesday, September 16, Inter Miami avenged their Leagues Cup Final loss by defeating the Seattle Sounders 3-1 in MLS at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, and Ian Fray each scored a goal for Miami against Seattle, playing a key role for the team. In addition, Messi and Alba each had an assist. Rodrigo De Paul, who moved to Inter Miami on loan from Atlético Madrid, also had an assist.
Fray, who scored Miami’s third goal against Seattle in MLS, told CBS News after the match, “It was definitely a little extra motivation. After losing a game like that, you don’t forget it.”
On the other hand, Obed Vargas scored just one goal for Seattle against Miami. However, the Seattle Sounders defeated Inter Miami 3-0 in the Leagues Cup Final on August 31, and the heated situation after the match that day led to scuffles, fights, and even spitting between the two teams.
