North Korea test-fired a short-range ballistic missile. The Sea of Japan provided the testing grounds. This was stated on Monday by the US military’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Anthony Blinken, the secretary of state of the United States, will attend the democracy conference in South Korea. North Korea carried out a fresh missile test earlier.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US military claim that Pyongyang has launched a ballistic missile into the East Sea. The missile’s specifics are unknown, though. The Sea of Japan is the name of that body of water.
The Japan Coast Guard has also confirmed Pyongyang’s missile test. It is said that ‘that object’ has already fallen into the sea.
The US and South Korea have concluded the 11-day joint military exercise ‘Freedom Shield’. About 27,000 US troops have participated in military exercises in South Korea. Soon after, North Korea’s missile test came to light.
This joint military exercise has been criticized by North Korea. Pyongyang says it is an “aggression exercise” on its territory.
Earlier on January 14, Pyongyang test-fired a missile with a strategic hypersonic warhead.
