PSG became the second French club after Marseille to win the 2025 UEFA Champions League title

by Akash Biswas

On Saturday, May 31, PSG defeated Inter Milan 5-1 at the Allianz Arena stadium in Munich to win their first-ever UEFA Champions League title, a long-held dream.

Marseille won the Champions League title in 1993, but in 2025, PSG became the second French club to win the Champions League, ending a long wait. Notably, the victory set a record for the largest margin in the history of a Champions League final.

In the Champions League final against Milan, PSG’s 19-year-old attacking midfielder Désiré Doué scored two goals and assisted one, while Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and 19-year-old Senny Mayulu scored one each to help the club win. On the other hand, the well-known player Ousmane Dembélé provided two assists.

PSG achieved a new feat by defeating Milan in the final. They stunned the football world by becoming the first French club to achieve the “treble” (winning three titles in one season) by winning the Champions League, Ligue 1 in the 2024-25 season, and the Coupe de France.

Coach Luis Enrique, who joined PSG on July 5, 2023, has played a key role in helping them win the Champions League. He has strengthened the PSG team with his tactical approach and reliance on young talent since his arrival. Enrique, 55, became the second coach to win the European treble, a feat previously achieved only by Pep Guardiola.

On the other hand, Italian club Inter Milan, which lost to PSG in the final, has previously won the Champions League title three times.
