Elon Musk, the CEO of American automaker Tesla, has announced that his company will debut a robotaxi this summer. Self-driving cars that are available for online hire as taxis are known as robotic cars or robotic taxis. These vehicles are configured specifically to function without a driver.Travelers can use a smartphone application to request a rental car. While autonomous robots have long been discussed, there are still safety concerns regarding how these vehicles should be controlled in terms of speed. Therefore, regulators are in charge of overseeing the use of these vehicles.
However, Elon Musk did not give any details about Tesla’s robotaxi. However, on his social media account X (former Twitter), he wrote,The Tesla Robotaxi is being unveiled on August 8. Tesla shares rose 3 percent immediately after the news.
Elon Musk has been saying for a long time that Tesla will make cars that the driver does not have to think about controlling. Tesla cars will have full self-driving capability (FSD). It will basically be software or a program that will be updated regularly. It will gradually improve driving. Cars will eventually become fully automated. At this time, the car owner can earn by renting the car without leaving the driver.
Elon Musk has repeatedly predicted the timeline for the release of automated car technology, but it has not been accurate. Five years ago, in April 2019, Tesla said it hoped to launch a robotaxi by 2020. It will provide 11 years of continuous service and 1 million miles. It will bring a profit of 30 thousand US dollars every year. But their predictions did not match reality.
Elon Musk said last March that Tesla’s FSD, or fully autonomous, cars will have the ability to make the car feel like a skilled driver is in control, even when the driver is tired.
