The American singer Taylor Swift reportedly supported Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in the election, according to The Guardian. Following her debate with Republican rival Donald Trump for the presidency, Swift shared a post on Instagram. “I will vote for the Democratic Party candidate. I will cast my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz (Walz is the Democratic vice presidential candidate) in the 2024 presidential election,” wrote Swift, whose Instagram account has 284 million followers.
Fan support for Harpic started to gather even earlier among some of the singer’s followers. Swift is a popular figure in the US, especially among Democrats. An October 2023 Fox News poll found that 55% of voters overall, including 68% of Democrats, have a favorable view of the singer. Republicans were divided: 43% were positive and 45% were negative.
Some analysts suggest that Swift’s support will have some influence on the election, as the singer may encourage younger fans to vote. While celebrity endorsements don’t necessarily mean a big turnout, Swift’s position is aimed at a particularly large fan base.
