The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has released a list of the world’s top 100 leagues for 2023 based on various rankings and statistics. Where the Italian Serie A has taken the top spot behind Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga.
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s leagues are also in the list of 100 leagues of IFFHS. The Portuguese son-in-law joined Saudi Pro League club Al Nasr early last year. And the Argentine superstar left PSG for Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami.
In the IFFHS list, compared to 2022, the Saudi Pro League improved by seven places, but the MLS dropped by 20 places. Saudi Pro League moved up from 40th place to 33rd place. Their points are 479.5. On the other hand, MLS has dropped from 43rd to 63rd place. Their points are 319.5.
IFFHS has been publishing their rankings since 1991. Where Italy’s Serie A has occupied the top spot for the 12th time with 1619.5 points. It is understood that the Italian league is in a good position in the league ranking. In second place is the most popular English Premier League in Europe. Their points are 1567. Spain’s La Liga is in third place with 1447 points, Brazilian Serie A is in fourth place with 1290.5 points. Then Germany’s Bundesliga took the fifth place. Their points are 1282.75. However, the French League One could not make it to the top five. They are in sixth place with 1143.25 points.

The main reason why the Italian Serie A, which was ranked fourth last year, has reached the top spot this year is their success in the European competition.
