There is currently a Microsoft outage that appears to be connected to the Bing application programming interface (API), which is causing problems with search capabilities for ChatGPT, Copilot, DuckDuckGo, and other platforms. At the time of publication, some sites and services were either not available at all or were only occasionally responding.
The problems, which started at around three in the morning ET, seem to be related to Bing’s API and any services that use it. Techcrunch claims that although Microsoft’s own web search engine, Bing, was also reportedly impacted earlier, the service now seems to be correctly loading search results.
Search results cannot be loaded for other search engines that depend on Bing‘s API, such as DuckDuckGo and Ecosia. Similar problems are also being experienced by Microsoft’s Copilot, which shows a loading loop that keeps users from using the service. Similar to this, ChatGPT, which enables web searches for Plus subscribers, is displaying an error message when users try to conduct a search query.
Microsoft has confirmed that its Copilot service faces loading problems and has stated that it is “working to isolate the cause of the issue.” As of right now, no additional service outages are detected by Microsoft’s service health platform. The search functions on OpenAl and Ecosia’s platforms are currently having problems, and OpenAI says it is looking into the matter as well.
