The pre-candidate for vice president of the United States on the ticket with Kamala Harris, Tim Walz (Democratic Party), said this Tuesday (6.Aug.2024) that he “can’t wait” to debate with former President Donald Trump’s vice presidential candidate, J.D. Vance (Republican Party).
“Like all ordinary people, I grew up in the heartland [Nebraska]. Vance went to Yale, had his career funded by Silicon Valley billionaires, and then wrote a best-selling book destroying that community. Come on! That’s not what average Americans are,” he said at his first Pennsylvania rally. “And I have to say, I can’t wait to debate this guy,” he said.
The Democrat’s statement comes after Trump’s vice president said the Minnesota governor is “one of the biggest extreme radicals in the world.”
Before entering politics, Vance gained notoriety as the author of the autobiographical book “Hillbilly Elegy,” published in 2016, the same year as Trump’s election.
Vance’s book tells the senator’s personal story: born in Middletown, Ohio, Vance spent part of his childhood in Jackson, Kentucky, being raised by his maternal grandparents while his mother struggled with drug addiction.
