Ukraine strikes Russian territory for the first time with US-supplied long-range missiles. Russia said the attack took place on Tuesday (Nov. 2024). The Russian Ministry of Defense said that Ukraine attacked the Bryansk region of Russia this morning using the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS). Five missiles were shot down, and one was destroyed. A military installation in the area caught fire due to missile debris, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement. BBC reported.
The US missile attack has also appeared in the Ukrainian media. However, the response of the Ukrainian government has not yet been received. According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, the fire started after falling debris from a missile. The fire was quickly extinguished. No one was injured in this incident.
Earlier, the Ukrainian military confirmed that it had attacked an ammunition depot in the Bryansk region of Russia. However, they did not confirm whether ATACMS was used in this attack.
According to the Ukrainian military, the attack happened at a depot approximately 100 kilometers from the border, close to the city of Karachev. Twelve explosions followed the assault. According to Ukrainian media, which cited military sources, the attack involved US missiles.
Donald Trump’s allies have slammed US President Joe Biden for allowing Ukraine to attack Russian territory using US-made long-range missiles. They are severely criticizing this. Moscow has also issued a warning that Biden’s choice might escalate the conflict, according to the Guardian.
