Germany’s population growth rate is unchanged

Germany’s population growth rate will remain unchanged in the coming years, according to a study. population of Germany growth by 2040 is predicted to be just 0.6%, according to the study’s findings.

 The population of the country’s eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt could drop by 12.3 percent in population growth.  Two other eastern states, Thuringia and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, could see population declines of 10.9 percent and 7.3 percent, respectively.

The number of elderly people is increasing

The number of elderly people is increasing in every German state, said Ralph Heck, chairman of the Bertelsmann Foundation. The published report shows that the number of people aged 65 and over in Germany will increase to 28 percent by 2040. The figure was 22 percent in 2020.

During the same period, the proportion of people of working age will fall from 54 to 48 percent. The proportion of minors in the total population will remain almost unchanged.
