Inter Miami defeated Jamaican football club Cavalier 2-0 in the Round of 16 Leg 1 of the Concacaf Champions Cup on Thursday, March 6, at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. However, football star Messi was not present in this match. However, Messi enjoyed the team’s victory while sitting in the stadium with his wife and children.

Earlier, Miami defeated Sporting KC 4-1 in the first round with a total of 2 legs. After that, Miami continued its undefeated start to the season after beating the Cavalier S.C. on Thursday.

Goals and assists for Inter Miami against Cavalier

Miami was scoreless in the first half against the Cavalier, but both teams played well, and Miami attacked well.

In the second half against Cavalier, Argentine professional footballer Tadeo Allende, on loan from Spanish club Celta de Vigo, scored in the 61st minute to give Miami a 1–0 lead. And in the 83rd minute, Luis Suárez scored to give Miami a 2–0 lead, and finally the referee’s whistle ended the game, and Miami won, with Sergio Busquets making 1 assist for the team.

Tadeo Allende won the man of the match award for Miami, while Jordi Alba played well, and the win was a big success for the team without Messi.

What Mascherano said about Messi

After the match, Miami coach Javier Mascherano told a press conference that he was following the doctor’s orders, adding that Messi was now tired and “we have to learn to play without him.”

“Knowing the risk of not having the best player in the world, we decided to rest him,” Mascherano added.

On March 13, Inter Miami will face Cavalia at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, in Leg 2 of the Round of 16, with a sell-out crowd of 35,000 expected to watch Messi play.

Messi’s upcoming match date

Messi, 37, is expected to play in the following six matches with Inter Miami and the Argentina national team later this month, including Inter Miami vs. Charlotte on March 9, Cavalier vs. Inter Miami on March 13, Atlanta vs. Inter Miami on March 16, Uruguay vs. Argentina on March 21, Argentina vs. Brazil on March 25, and Inter Miami vs. Philadelphia on March 29.
