After 24 years, Simone Inzaghi got the taste of winning the Serie A title again. This time, however, as a coach. Last night, Inter Milan won the Serien title after beating AC Milan 2-1 with five matches in hand. It is the 20th Scudetto or Serie A title in the club’s history. And this is Inzaghi’s first Serie A title in his 8-year coaching career.  Inzaghi previously won the Serie A with Lazio in 2000.

Winning the Milan derby is the title—knowing this, Inter took the lead in the 18th minute with Acerbi’s goal. Markus Thuram doubled the goal margin in the 49th minute. Milan reduced the gap with Tomori’s goal in the 80th minute. But in the end, they couldn’t delay Inter’s title win.

Although he won his first Serie A title as a coach, Simone has already had success in other competitions. After his playing career, Simeone began his coaching career at Lazio. From 2016 to 2021, he won three titles there—two Italian Super Cups and one Italian Cup. He took charge of Inter Milan in the 2021–22 season. Inter won the Italian Cup in his first season in charge. He retained the title the following season. In addition, he won the Italian Super Cup three years in a row for Inter.

Inzaghi, 48, is happy with what he has achieved so far in his coaching career. He is particularly pleased with his achievements in the Inter Milan dugout. After winning the Serie A title yesterday, he said, ‘Six trophies in three years and a Champions League final—it’s hard to imagine achieving so much. You have to look at the whole three years together. We had a good year. But the path to this victory has been made over a long period of time.

Inzaghi is also one of the few coaches who has stood in the dugout at Inter. Yesterday’s win against Milan was Simeone’s 100th in the Inter dugout. Only four Inter coaches have achieved this feat: Helenio Herrera, Roberto Mancini, Giovanni Trapattoni, and Árpád Weisz.
