The country’s public prosecutor’s office confirmed an investigation had been opened without naming the striker. The player has denied the allegations on social media and announced legal action against what he called “fake news.”
The case started after Mbappe’s two-day visit to Stockholm, the Swedish capital. The player was spotted in a restaurant and on a boat with pals while he was in the city. The Swedish Public Prosecutor’s Office did not provide any additional information regarding the case, despite the fact that the crime was allegedly committed in a hotel on October 10.
The investigation is in its early stages, according to Expressen. “Reasonably suspicious” and “probably suspicious” are used in the Swedish legal system to categorize suspects. The lowest level, which seldom leads to pre-trial detention, is where Mbappe was placed.
