Pink cards

International football is about to see a new color card. And after 28 days, the Copa America starts on June 20. That’s where the pink card comes into play. Football’s governing body (IFAB) has also approved the new card. As a result, this card can be seen in Lionel Messi’s matches.

What is this pink card?

If a player commits a foul during the game, he will be shown a yellow and red card, but in this case, the new hope will not be shown this card but will be shown pink when substituted in the game.

When will this card be shown?

If a footballer suffers a head injury or has to be taken off due to a concussion during the game, the referee will show this card to the spectators and the opposing team. If a footballer needs to be changed as a concussion sub, the coach of the respective team can go and tell the on-field referee or the fourth referee. Then the field referee will approve the matter by showing a pink card.

What are the benefits of a pink card?

As per the current game regulations, a team is allowed to substitute five football players. However, a team will not be counted among those five if they acquire a football player with a head injury or concussion through a pink card. The team can thus substitute a total of six football players. When a team receives a pink card from the referee, the other team is also allowed to substitute one additional player from the starting five. Concussions, however, do not alter. It is also possible to change regular football players. The goal of this choice is to restore harmony between the two factions.
