The Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation announced on Tuesday that Konstantin Koltsov, a former hockey player and partner of tennis champion Arina Sabalenka, passed away at the age of 42.
The sports agency released a brief statement stating that Koltsov “died suddenly,” without mentioning the reason or location of his passing.
On his website, he stated, “We are in mourning,” adding:
The family, friends, and everyone who knew and collaborated with Konstantin are all recipients of the Belarusian Hockey Federation’s sincere condolences.
The hockey player from Belarus was a member of the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins. Additionally, he participated in national team play from 2002 to 2006.
Aryna Sabalenka, the world No. 2 tennis player and the 25-year-old Australian Open doubles champion, was her partner in the match but did not immediately respond. This week in Miami, he’s supposed to compete in the Masters 100o.
