JOANN Crafters in 49 states may want to think about stocking up on supplies, as fabric and craft stores prepare to close more than half of their U.S. locations, USA Today reported.
A retailer told USA TODAY that the company will close about 500 of its 850 stores in the United States and that the company filed for bankruptcy twice within a year, first in early 2024 and then again in January 2025. The company went private in March 2024.
JOANN said that while this decision was very difficult to make, we know the company will impact our team members, our customers, and the communities we serve.
JOAAN also said a careful analysis of store performance and future strategic fit for the company determined which stores should continue to operate normally at this time.
The company has not shared an official list of store closings with the public but submitted the list to the court as part of its bankruptcy proceedings. Court documents filed by the company show that 533 stores in 49 US states are slated to close.
Of the more than 500 of JOANN’s store closures located in 49 states, the odd state is Hawaii, court records show.
