The Russian ambassador, Georgy Zinoviev, was called by the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs to express disapproval over the deployment of North Korean troops to support Russia in the conflict with Ukraine. Seoul has promised a joint international response, Reuters reports.
South Korea’s first vice foreign minister, Kim Hong-kyun, reportedly spoke with Russian ambassador Georgy Zinoviev and asked the North Korean soldiers to immediately depart Russia, according to a statement from the ministry. He declared that supporting Pyongyang’s aggression against Ukraine was in violation of the statute and resolutions.
