Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, has displaced Jeff Bezos and Bernard Arnault to become the second richest person in the world. According to Bloomberg’s ranking of billionaires, Zuckerberg, with a personal fortune of $206 billion, is second only to Elon Musk.
The latest data from the Bloomberg Billionaire Index shows that Zuckerberg has increased his wealth more than any other billionaire this year by a whopping $78.1 billion. He paid an unaffordable $200 billion to join an exclusive club that only two other people can afford: Bezos, the founder of Amazon, with $205 billion, and Musk, the CEO of Tesla, with $256 billion.

Bernard Arnault, CEO of luxury brand LVMH, recently left the club with a fortune of $193 billion.
The bulk of the wealth of Zuckerberg, 40, who launched Facebook in 2004, is the stock of Meta Platforms, which has risen more than 72% this year. Meta shares rose 2.26% to close at a record high of $595.94 on Friday.
Along with the instant messaging app WhatsApp, Meta also runs the well-known social media sites Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.
Zuckerberg said Meta AI is expected to surpass all other assistants in terms of usage worldwide during his speech at the Meta Connect 2024 event on September 25.
“We have almost 500 million monthly active users and we haven’t even launched in some big countries yet,” Mark Zuckerberg said, referring to EU member states.
This year, the wealth of other tech billionaires has surpassed Zuckerberg’s. In 2024, the values of Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, and Larry Ellison, the co-founder of Oracle, have increased by $63.5 billion and $55.9 billion, respectively.
