Elon Musk, born in South Africa and currently the richest person in the world, owns the most wealth among America’s Top immigrant billionaires. The 10 richest foreign-born Americans, 7 of whom made their fortunes in tech or the internet, all hail from different birthplaces. Their combined wealth is equal to the GDP of Switzerland.
America’s top immigrant billionaire founders have built their wealth through a variety of companies, most of which come from the technology sector. There are 125 foreign-born billionaires in America, representing 14% of all US billionaires and 18% of their total wealth, according to Forbes.
Known as the richest person in the world, Musk’s stake in Tesla and SpaceX alone is worth $393 billion, while Jensen Huang’s Nvidia financial position is currently improving due to demand for AI chips. Sergey Brin owns roughly 38 million shares of Google’s parent company, Alphabet, cementing his place among the world’s richest people.
Fortunes Beyond Technology
Despite the dominance of technology, other industries still own huge fortunes. Israeli-born physician Miriam Adelson inherited a controlling stake in Las Vegas Sands after the death of her husband, Sheldon, while Rupert Murdoch moved to the United States to build a global media empire across Fox and News Corporation.
